Live Construction Cameras & Webcams
See your construction site right now, from anywhere. Live view gives you instant access to current conditions—check the weather, monitor activity, or share a real-time view with stakeholders during meetings.
What Live View Offers
Check Site Conditions Instantly
See what's happening right now—weather, activity level, equipment positions—without traveling to site.
Share Access with Stakeholders
Give clients, investors, and team members their own live view. They can check progress themselves.
Respond Quickly to Issues
See problems as they develop. Make decisions faster when you can see the situation in real-time.
Document Automatically
Live view works alongside automatic photo capture. Every moment is documented even when you're not watching.
Live View vs Time-Lapse Documentation
Construction cameras typically offer two modes of operation. Understanding both helps you get the most value.
Live View | Time-Lapse | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Check current conditions, real-time monitoring | Document progress over time, create videos |
| How it works | On-demand video stream when you access the camera | Automatic photos at intervals (hourly, every 5 min, etc.) |
| Data usage | High bandwidth during viewing session | Low bandwidth, only photos uploaded |
| Storage | Real-time only, not recorded by default | All photos stored for project duration |
| Best for | Quick checks, urgent situations, stakeholder demos | Documentation, claims, marketing videos |
When Live View Is Most Useful
Morning Site Checks
Before leaving the office, check conditions at all your sites. Decide where you're needed most.
Weather Monitoring
See actual conditions at the site during weather events. Is work possible today?
Stakeholder Meetings
Pull up the live view during calls to show clients exactly what's happening right now.
Security Verification
Quick check that the site is secure. See if equipment is where it should be.
Delivery Coordination
Watch for material deliveries. Confirm when trucks arrive and where they unload.
Event Documentation
Capture specific moments like concrete pours, crane lifts, or inspections as they happen.
Builder.Cam's Approach
At Builder.Cam, we focus primarily on high-resolution photo documentation (time-lapse) because:
- Higher photo quality – Photos at 12-64 megapixels capture details video can't match
- Complete documentation – Automatic capture means nothing is missed, even when you're not watching
- Better for claims and disputes – Timestamped photos are clearer evidence than video footage
- Lower bandwidth and storage – More reliable on cellular, more cost-effective
That said, live video streaming is available on our OneLens Dual model for projects that specifically need real-time monitoring. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between live view and timelapse?
Live view shows you what's happening right now—it's an on-demand video stream for when you want to check current conditions. Timelapse is automatic photo capture at regular intervals, building up a complete visual record over time. Both work together: live view for instant checks, timelapse for documentation. Most clients use timelapse daily and live view occasionally.
Is the live view really live?
Yes, with a few seconds of delay due to video encoding and transmission. It's not instant like being there, but it's close enough for practical purposes—you see current conditions, not recorded footage.
Do all Builder.Cam cameras have live view?
Live video streaming is available on select camera models (OneLens Dual). Our standard cameras focus on high-resolution photo capture, which provides better photo quality and uses less data. Contact us to discuss which option fits your needs.
Can I record the live stream?
By default, live view is real-time only—we don't continuously record video as this would require massive storage and bandwidth. However, you can manually save clips during live sessions, or configure the camera to record video during specific events. For most documentation purposes, automatic photo capture (timelapse) is more practical and comprehensive.
How many people can watch the live view at once?
Multiple users can access the live stream simultaneously. Each authorized user in your project has access. This is great for team collaboration or client presentations.
Does live view work on mobile?
Yes, live view works in any web browser including mobile. You can check your sites from your phone wherever you have internet access.
What about bandwidth and data usage?
Live video streaming uses more bandwidth than photo uploads. On the camera side, this uses more 4G data. On your viewing side, you need a reasonable internet connection. For most users, this isn't a concern, but it's why we focus on photo-based documentation as the primary mode—it's more efficient and reliable.
